London jobs in tourism, retail as well as catering and hospitality can benefit from the capital’s status as one of the top 10 most affordable travelling destinations.
According to the newest report from the Lonely Planet, the weak pound has turned London’s economy into a silver lining for travellers.
According to the guide: “Long ludicrously expensive, London has become much more affordable for visitors from abroad, if not for its residents.
“The favourable exchange rate means that travellers will often find hotels and meals up to half the price they were a few years ago, or at least a third cheaper.”
Lonely Planet travel editor Tom Hall also commented: “The tables have turned and London's reputation as one of the world's most expensive cities is over.
“It is far easier to do London on the cheap than it was five years ago.”
Hall also commented on budget hotels like Travelodge and Premier Inn which have increased in their numbers across the capital.
With the Olympic Games nearing, London couldn’t have asked for better advertisement. Jobs in the area will benefit from an influx of tourists to the city.
Joining London on the top 10 list for best-value destinations are Iceland, South Africa, Las Vegas and Kenya.
